Thanks mombodog. I can it to burn data dvd's now though by running the exe from the core folder, which is all I wanted to do anyway. You are right that Version 7. Look at the updates at Nero site and look for an update to version 7.
Download this and then use your serial number. I repeated all the steps I tried before upgrading to the newer version without any luck. I even turned UAC off. Maybe they didn't have to do anything, I don't know.
Some pieces of the installed Nero package do work. Back It Up, the cover designer, Nero Digital software, Drive Speed, and the info tool all seem to work with out any problems. Nero, Nero Express, and the Media player are the ones that will not run.
MDE Lifer. Jul 17, 13, 1 Mar 4, 27, Nero 6 is yesterday's news - especially for a bit OS. I did a little more 'digging' and it apears that the culprit is msa. GotGoose Member. Feb 25, 41 0 0. I like Windows' built in writer. Mar 20, 9, 1 0 www. I can attest to Nero 6 running on Vista bit. As posted, SmartStart doesn't work, though. SoFChef Junior Member. I tried to google this, I came up with: a ton of crap about beta versions of Vista, a post on cnet saying yes, a post on cdrinfo saying no, and a download on afterdawn listing Vista in the OS list.
So basically, inconclusive. I can install it and find out, but I am always reluctant to install stuff like that because I'm not convinced that uninstalling it removes everything. Installing Nero 7 is an option I'd like to avoid because I bought Nero 6 and would like to keep using it.
I've only built one Vista system so far, and that was nearly two months ago. I'm pretty sure I remember it getting a critical error on startup though, and my Nero 6 coaster disc would verify that.
I don't know how different Nero 6 retail is from the OEM bundle, though. In fact OpenOffice is the only program I managed to get to work with no hiccups. Personally I really enjoyed Vista's built in burning features, I guess to each his own.
Imgburn Try Imgburn. I finally got around to testing it.
